IVAW was founded by Iraq war veterans in July 2004 at the annual convention of Veterans for Peace (VFP) in Boston to give a voice to the large number of active duty service people and veterans who are against this war, but are under various pressures to remain silent. Please be aware that the use of violence is NOT condoned by Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) and the portrayal of such actions in this video are only to show the truth about the brutality of what's really going on in Iraq. And this video is really only scratching the surface of the insanity and sheer madness of the things happening in that part of the world. It also helps explain how the military establishment is conditioning and programming soldiers to become acclimated to violence and conditioned to respond to such unconstitutional and egregious orders. Luckily, many of the soldiers are breaking free of their bondage to the inhumanity that the system pushes on to them. Ultimately this inhumanity is foisted onto the backs of the American people, disgracing our culture and society and falsely presenting this as representative of something that WE as Americans are TOTALLY AGAINST!

What was the Iran-Contra affair? tag:www.i-tube.net,2009-03-09:2724187:Video:45324 2009-03-09T00:05:10.541Z brainphreak http://www.i-tube.net/profile/brainphreak

The Iran-Contra affair (Persian: ماجرای مک‌فارلین; Spanish: Escándalo Irán-Contra) was a political scandal in the United States which came to light in November 1986, during the Reagan administration, over an arms-for-hostages deal with Iran and funding for the Nicaraguan Contras.

It began as an operation to improve U.S.-Iranian relations, wherein Israel would ship weapons…

It began as an operation to improve U.S.-Iranian relations, wherein Israel would ship weapons to a relatively moderate, politically influential group of Iranians; the U.S. would then resupply Israel and receive the Israeli payment. The Iranian recipients promised to do everything in their power to achieve the release of six U.S. hostages, who were being held by the Lebanese Shia Islamist group Hezbollah. The plan eventually deteriorated into an arms-for-hostages scheme, in which members of the executive branch sold weapons to Iran in exchange for the release of the American hostages.[1][2] Large modifications to the plan were conjured by Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North of the National Security Council in late 1985, in which a portion of the proceeds from the weapon sales was diverted to fund anti-Sandinista and anti-communist rebels, or Contras, in Nicaragua.[3] While President Ronald Reagan was a supporter of the Contra cause,[4] there has not been any evidence uncovered showing that he authorized this plan.[1][2][5]

After the weapon sales were revealed in November 1986, Reagan appeared on national television and stated that the weapons transfers had indeed occurred, but that the United States did not trade arms for hostages.[6] The investigation was compounded when large volumes of documents relating to the scandal were destroyed or withheld from investigators by Reagan administration officials.[7] On March 4, 1987, Reagan returned to the airwaves in a nationally televised address, taking full responsibility for any actions that he was unaware of, and admitting that "what began as a strategic opening to Iran deteriorated, in its implementation, into trading arms for hostages."[8]

Several investigations ensued, including those by the United States Congress and the three-man, Reagan-appointed Tower Commission. Neither found any evidence that President Reagan himself knew of the extent of the multiple programs.[1][2][5] In the end, fourteen administration officials were charged with crimes, and eleven convicted, including then-Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger.[9] They were all pardoned in the final days of the George H. W. Bush presidency, who had been vice-president at the time of the affair.[10]
