The death of dreams
From this perspective, it is all over.
Those things I wanted are no longer possible, the angle of descent into sorrow too steep for even the most overcharged, false portrayal of happiness to lift me from this pit. I wanted more in life.
The people who came before me were able to attain a good life with an honest effort. Those born into the more privledged classes are handed an even better life to reward them for breathing. I fight tooth and nail with the god damned lowlifes to eke out something resembling a shabby existence, eternally condemned to work ten times as hard to get nothing... I'm done with it. Why even try to get ahead when all the effort gets you are another set of boots on your back?
This is it people. This god damned life is all I have. This may very well be all I will ever have.
Hard work gets you nowhere. Applying yourself only squanders the finite time that you have in a vain attempt to become something better. Those who refuse to lie or compromise their principals have no place in this society. Had I only had the courage to lie, cheat, and steal I could have been a fucking god amongst men, but I foolishly chose to follow what I thought was right and now I must live with the consequences of my actions...
"Quitters never win, and winners never quit"... You know what? That is complete and utter BULLSHIT. Fuck that notion - I worked ceaselessly just to see arrogant bullshitters brown-nose the fucking bosses and shoot straight ahead of me, I have seen people whisper into my manager's ears and look straight at me as they play Judas, found that the women here have "given of themselves" to get into positions they are nowhere near ready to be in, and been the smartest person in the god damned company... Pushing the fucking broom. The entire fucking game is rigged so the Ins get the lion's share and the Outs are used and discarded. Management will drag the stubborn ass clear across the field and work the willing workhorse to death... It's the fucking god damned truth. So here I am, tired of putting out 200% effort to get a meager 15% of the results.
That's just the way it is, apparently.... Fuck me. Let the clock tick out and try not to lament what could have been I guess.
