Without a doubt, this was the most unresponsive correspondence that I have EVER had. So two questions.
1) Did Cozmikzen try to get answers out of YouTube as to why they are treating him like dirt? How responsive was YouTube.
2) Isn’t YouTube’s policy not to discuss details of a suspension with a third party? If so, why are they discussing it with the YourTubeAdvocate. Or more specifically, are they giving the YourTubeAdvocate more details than they are giving Cozmikzen?

They ought to make a general announcement and say "We are no longer the World's Largest Town Hall. We are no longer the place where ideas can be debated vigorously. That is no longer the purpose of YouTube."

And then the President and members of Congress should pull out of YouTube since YouTube has abandoned the vision it once had. The following channels should shut down and set up shop elsewhere.

Maybe President Obama should open up an account on DramaTube.

It is certainly a huge uphill battle, but there may come a point where critical mass is achieved when they piss off one too many people, or if they piss off the wrong people.

Other than that, I agree with what you say.

But if we want a platform where we can speak freely to a HUGE internet audience without fear of unnecessary censorship, then one of two things must happen:

1) YouTube must radically change the way it treats its users.

OR

2) YouTube must die off so that some other site can fill its niche. Vloggers stay on YT for one reason only--that is where the eyeballs are. If you want to have a CHANCE of being heard by a wide range of people, if you want to have a CHANCE for your vlog to be seen by a Representative or a Senator, YouTube is the place to be. While people may go to alternative sites like DramaTube in ADDITION to YT, large numbers of people are not going to close their accounts simply because they HAVE to be there if they want to be where the action is.

Comment by themaskedanalyst on April 18, 2009 at 6:13pm: Whether you like it or not, YouTube is still THE dominating force on the internet. And they probably will be for some time. YouTube is one of the most heavily trafficked sites, and it is THE site where members of Congress have chosen to set up shop for their videos.

The dream of what Youtube could have been and should have been may have died. But that doesn't mean we should give up fighting. This doesn't mean they can NEVER be at least partially democratized and made accountable.

Look, the dinosaurs had to die off before the mammals could thrive. YouTube will have to die off before another site can arise and be THE major (hopefully) free-speech community on the net. I don't see YouTube dying anytime soon. So the only alternative is to fight. To give up is depressing.
