The only chromosome present was a Y chromosome. The Y chromosome meant the blood came from a male. But males with both parental sets of 23 Genomes each, male Chromosomes are XY. The person had to have a mother to exist. Hence the single set of 23 genomes was present. His Chromosome HAD to be Y for him to be male. But if he had had a PATERNAL set of 23 Genomes (46 both together), he would have had an X Chromosome as well (XY).
