The eggs I buy are from bio farmers. I pay twice the price but consider it worthwhile.
About meat. I saw once a document about farmers in Germany and there were some who had their pigs in much bigger stables where the pigs could run free to their pleasure. Take a shower when they got to hot after playing around and chasing each other, could take a rest in warm and comfortable hey nests and eat as much as they wanted.
Because of them moving so much around they needed more food but the owner could save some money by lowering the temperature in the facility. Since the pigs were moving they weren't freezing that easily. Still their end price was 10% higher but the customers were willing to pay the higher price because the meat tasted better.
What we need is a farming with compassion. Farming with love towards plants and livestock.
We all have to die some day and nature has placed us very high up on the food chain but there is no need for unnecessary suffering among other living beings to satisfy our hunger .
I remember the conversation I had once in Greece with a tomato farmer.
I asked him how much he would have to sell his tomatoes for a higher price if he stopped using weed killers and chemical fertilizers. After some moments of silence and him counting his answer was:
10%
I will post a video in relation to that. How big fertilizer companies make politics

i like your analogy, except that sex is healthy. a diet full of pork and beef is not.
good point. the truth is, i do like sausage and bacon. i do want to eat it. its just that i know how bad it is for me, what w all the fat, sodium, nitrates, hormones, pesticides, etc that are involved. and then there is the waste of it being industrialized, as well as the cost. the other thing (and i know this is more personal) is that in a sausage patty, i am going to eventually hit some nasty bone fragment or gristle or fatty part, and i am going to want to vomit. i cannot explain this. its even worse when i eat chicken. that lil gnarly piece? omg it makes me gag. fake meat does NOT have these lil nasty pieces...just solid "meat".....so i love fake chicken!!
the fake bacon needs work, i agree. the fake chicken and sausage are ok for me...but they could all use less sodium.
i dont have a problem w the food chain, its how we treat the animals, and how nasty and wasteful the process is.
been a vegetarian since 1978. never once craved meat nor liked the smell of it. could not be happier with my health/ideological choice. & i still get carded. not to brag but i look great. biological age does not at all match who/how i am compared to other people my age. vegetarians are consistently in far better shape than meateaters in every way. i am happy too for all the animals not slaughtered in my name. other people want to eat meat, go for it. could not care less. almost all my friends are meateaters. moo.
I am a vegetarian since about 25 years. I didn't stop eating meat for ideological reasons but simple my stomch couldn't digest meat anymore. Many vegetarians are vegetarians for ideological reasons but their bodies are meat eaters. When the get the smell of a steak they go crazy because their body is craving for meat but their mind won't permit it. Then there are people who think that killing animals is wrong and for that reason they are against eating meat. My moral has been so far that if you eat meat you should be able to kill an animal or the very least be able to witness the killing of an animal.
There are aspects too. If half the Chinese would become meat eaters China would not have enough land to provide them with food. Traditionally my ancestors were eating vegetables most of the time with perhaps one meat dish per week and one time fish or chicken per week. I think the video guy complains about vegetarians who are vegetarians for ideological reasons but their body is craving for meat.
By the way I eat fish, eggs and cheese.
