response to Joanna's earlier blog post.
Ok here's my take on it. Could it ever become more "mainstream"? Yea sure anything is possible i guess.
If it were to gain more publicity I dont think it will change the website in itself. That is unless the ppl managing this place were to suddenly have their motives changed. Despite some of the pessimistic jackasses who always say this place is "dying", actually DT has been growing steadily. During the site's steady growth I have yet to see 1 admin display any type of selling out-ish behavior.
All those other websites you mentioned such as Google, Youtube, etc, their main motivation for ever establishing their sites was to make money and lots of it. Additionally, by past observation it's very clear that in order to ever have a website become more "mainsteam", you pretty much have to become a complete and utter suck up and sell out.
From day 1, Dramatube has never had a desire to reap in profit. It's beginning started with just a bunch of disgruntled Youtube users, who also didn't like any of the alternatives that were already out there. So finally they all banded together and bam DT was born. I can tell you 100%, NONE of us have made any money of this place and quite the oppostie really. Heck I think all DT staff would be thrilled if the site just simply earned enough dough to break even on DT's bandwidth expenses. If our reasons for working hard on this site was over making money, we would've pulled the plug long ago. We do it because just like you, we want to be here and we enjoy this place.
Anyways hopes this answers your questions..
