The pigs WERE alive at the time of the photos... for the record.
Anyways, I've had a bit of time to think. This was something completely out of the realm I normally post about, and as per usual, just a casual observation.
Liquor.
Apparently there are some rice wines they either use for cooking or use for drinking, or both. It is an apparitif (ok, I can't spell for shit, if this is wrong). Burns like a motherfucker, unless you're used to it. Smells nice, flowery, and appitizing, but tastes like shit. Then again, I am not used to this stuff, so everything tastes like shit to me, except for Vodka, Rum, Scotch, and a few sweet liquors I generally prefer. And I am not a wine guy, nor am I a beer guy.
However, I do have a slight understanding of beers, as far as what most of them are. I can tell the difference between a stout and a lager (durrrr one is lighter). Pilsners are a bit of a weakspot for me, never drank any, never cared. Again, not a beer guy.
Anyways, I've noticed they like their lagers, and never really tried a stout. While some may have experiemented, the mainstay of beers here in China are lagers. And they're a touch light, not quite as bitter, but refreshing.
I was thinking of bringing back a 6 pack of Kokanee, or Molson Canadian the next time I came back. Or give them some Vodka or rum. Something closer from the heart.
Anyways, just an observation about Hong Kong, like most other Asian cities, they don't drive on the right side of the road. Whatever... taxi's actually signal, going into the lane... wow.
And the fried sushi roll from KFC, YES THAT KFC, looks... interesting... http://www.kfchk.com/eng/index.htm
Protip: Eat what you know, not explore anything weirder than it looks.... scatch that, eat what you think isn't fucked up.
Anyways, I'm in HK now, killing time till my flight in the afternoon, and in need of a laptop, cuz my last one died... fucking hell. Been eyeing the netbooks here, and godddamn, it's cheaper at home.
Protip: don't buy outside of your country. Your warranty will actually work better.
Protip 2: Buy extended warranties. People say they don't work, and some will swear by it. It's all in how your experiences are with it. And yes I am in sales, relating to electronics.
And Lea asked where is home... home is not anywhere near Tom Serson's general vicinity... oops, I wasn't gonna say anything about him... oh well.
