What I think is really going on with Vloggerheads

I'm not sure how many of ya'll keep track of what goes on with Vloggerheads these days. Personally, I hardly go to that site anymore. However, I keep hearing about how the site founders on VH wanna implement a "Democracy". Meaning they want their members to play a bigger role in the decision making process of how that website is run. Doesn't sound too bad of an idea on the skin deep surface, but personally I think it's mostly a bunch of bullshit and here's why.

I one guess way to debunk their "Democracy" is that Vloggerhead's domain is in TOM's name. Also Tom pays for the bandwidth expenses and that makes him THE ADMIN so he has the final say in anything that goes on there. So if one of their schemes turns out to be a bad idea then Tom can just simply yank it at any time. So this whole idea of "Vloggerheads Democracy" is really just an illusion.

Another way to debunk their "democracy" idea is lets just say hypothetically Tom really did hand over the reins completely over to their little e-community. Then what? Will members start taking votes on whether or not to throw the banhammer because Joe-blow #1 gave constructive criticism to Joe-Blow #2 and he misunderstood as an "attack"? Don't kid yourself that such a thing will never happen either because there's lots of petty and overly sensitive people at that place. They're currently fighting and arguing over trivial stuff and proving my point already. So many people seem to take the term "Democracy" and confuse it with "Dictatorship-of-the-Majority" and there is a difference between the 2.

Personally, I think Tom and Paul really will at least try to shift much of the site's responsibilities over to their members. I don't think they're doing this out of the goodness of their hearts like so many at VH think. Is it just me or has anyone else notice that Tom and Paul don't seem to be participating as much? Hello!!?? Aren't these the same guys that helped establish VH to begin with and they aren't around? Many of the founding members of Dramatube are still here. We may not be making a big presence in the form of videos/blogs but we have been working hard at spreading the word about this site. It's one of the reasons why the Alexa ratings keep increasing and our number of new members have skyrocketed.

When I think back to Vloggerhead's beginning, I remember they launched their site back when faith for Youtube was at an all time low. When I also think back of Paul's previous ambitions, his underlying reasons usually have something to do with fame and making money..... lots of it. I guess the same goes for Tom as well except I don't think he is as obsessed with fame as Paul is. To put it bluntly, Vloggerheads has always been about trying to make big profit while Dramatube has not. We'd be happy if the ad revenue made just enough to pay for the bandwidth expenses. These guys wouldn't be spending loads of time and money on things such as the Sorff program and other failed projects. They have been trying to make their site as unique as possible and there's a reason for it. They were hoping that VH would get big enough to the point where a business or somebody with big pockets would buy their domain. They attempted to cash in on Youtube's arrogance and incomptence and it has failed.

Tom and Paul are trying to start a transitional phase where they can gradually spend less time managing the site. In short, Vloggerheads simply hasn't lived up to their expectations. They've found a way to slowly back out and have concealed it in a wrapper they call "democracy".

So that's the whole business aspect of why I think they want out and now onto possible personal reasons. Vloggerheads staff has always had some major behind-the-scenes in-fighting before. Additionally, I have learned since launching Dramatube, that being an admin can be a thankless job at times. In fact, there are times where you'll lose friendships while being firm on your decisions and that's when all the 2 faced backstabbing bullshit usually begins. Even though some of us at DT have experienced such betrayal, I think the problem is a lot worse on VH and they're sick of it.

There's my 2 cents on the matter so there ya go. Take it or leave it.
