Before I moved to this property I did have a garden grown in a conventional manner, as opposed to traditional as I don't keep animals. Here I'd have to use intensive techniques as the area of land I have the use of is so small. I except if I grew corn it would be my only summer crop due to that land shortage. I can't disagree with the information you provide, the corn I grew was a hybrid produced for it's sweetness of flavour and speedines of maturity and resistance to disease, ideal for the home gardener, no sprays required. I never actually considered how it would get on in the wild environment with no intervention from me. I expect though, now that you've forced me to think about it, the corn would kill itself off from it's successful natural germination rates. The seeds I originally purchased had not one failure, and I do get most annoyed when I do buy seeds that have a majority of germination failure, only because the seed producers don't tell me that important little bit of information prior to planting! Yes I could save myself some grief of I germinated in trays and only planted seedlings, but each additional step requires that bit more effort, and I'd just rather rely on that 100% germination rate as PROMISED on the packet. LOL I guess I'm just getting lazy. :)

In the supermarket I go to the "Organic Produce" has it's own sections - and I scan the "price per 100grams" for each item and buy accordingly, EXCEPT SOY, I don't eat any Soy products, the latest Testosterone injectables are derived from Soy and I won't use them for the same reason, I am biased against Soy. So I end up never buying anything supposedly "organic" or "less chemical dependent" or "chemical free" as they are always the most expensive items for sale PP100.

Well, regarding corn... it is a grain that cannot actually reproduce itself without human interaction. SO in essence... it is altered form the start. A bit of a shocker there huh folks?

And that's not all, there is many more that are this way. SO the term of organic food may be questionable right off the bat.

I often wonder at what standards my foods are being held to to be stamped organic. Where i am it doesn't really make a lot of financial difference between standard and organic food because of the large availability of organics here. Maybe 20 extra dollars a week... for myself personally. And I try to do this as often as I can. BUT... it could be very very different where you are. Presumably so, actually.
We have a huge agriculture market here, and not only that, even with the extra efforts of organic growing and the agricultural testing and licensing involved. The farmers turn MORE profits, in the long run... but again as you said, the over all money that any farmer makes is small. That is the crux of the situation.
