It was a show. I guess the cab drivers didn't knew about the helmet. Those were worn 65 years ago in Germany. Yeah, Nazi with normal clothes beside the helmet, cameras and huge microphones. Very authentic. Also New York is where you meat all kind of weird people. You can be dressed as a Martian and people would not notice.
I had a long authentic Gestapo leather coat on in Germany in 74 and nobody confused me with a Nazi.
A few older people got scared for a few moments but the majority didn't notice anything and it was in Germany in 74 not crazy New York in 2008
