UnFuckingBelievable.... Congress introduces Micheal Jackson Bill?! Are you fucking kidding me?!

As an example of how just irrelevant and silly government has become — in addition to becoming increasingly tyrannical and authoritarian — consider a bill introduced in the House: H. Res. 600: A Tribute to an American Legend and Musical Icon, sponsored by Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee of Texas.


Jackson-Lee’s bill proposes a “tribute to an American legend and musical icon,” Michael Jackson. For some reason it was referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Jackson is described as a “noted humanitarian,” a dominant figure in popular music and the first African-American entertainer to amass a strong crossover following on MTV, a general all-around good guy who supported the NAACP, the United Negro College Fund, Make a Wish Foundation, Give For Life, who donated $500,000 to Elizabeth Taylor’s AIDS Foundation, donated more than 200 turkey dinners to needy families in Los Angeles, etc., ad nauseam.

In other words, Michael Jackson — like any other celebrity — did a few good things. However, none of it has anything to do with the business of the people who elected Ms. Jackson-Lee to represent them.

The government should not waste taxpayer money lionizing a “musical icon.” One wonders how many staffers and how many hours were squandered writing this preposterous “bill” that is nothing more than a shameless effort to pander to the media circus and feeding frenzy surrounding the death of a washed-up performer who apparently died from a drug overdose (it is said his home was stocked like a pharmacy with sedatives and there are persistent rumors of Jackson’s abuse of Oxycontin and possibly IV medications).

Let the corporate entertainment media concentrate on Michael Jackson. Our representatives should have more important business to deal with.

...and to all you commenters bashing me over this....let me ask you this ONE question. IS IT Congress' job to be memorializing DEAD entertainers???

My opinion is that taxpayer money should not be wasted on such matters. The gov't needs to know when to stay out of it. * IF * you have a valid contradictory argument, post a video response.

Im a fan of Michael Jackson's music like everyone else, but this is just ridiculous. There are other important matters that the government could be or could have dealt with before such as the Cap and Trade Bill, which recently passed and where Congress was FORBIDDEN to even read the bill - what is this Nazi Germany? Yet this absurd bill is going to be debated and most likely passed and for what? to acknowledge that Michael Jackson was a philanthropist, humanitarian and a legendary artist? Who the fuck doesnt know that already? - especially since the controlled media has been telling us that since he passed away. Why waste time and money into debating facts that are known. If this continues then the government is going to own every aspect of your life and be able to do whatever they want by passing constant bills that the people of America and Congress have no control over and taking away more liberties and freedom while feeding you with more useless celebrity news/gossip and propaganda to keep you distracted and make you more apathetic and ignorant to the real issues at hand. I do not believe Michael would want everyone to be turned into a slave because they were so fixated on his death and failed to even see what the government is doing to this once free nation. This world is becoming more insane and more asleep.
