When this whole swine flu thing kicked off, I asked my mom about it. She told me about how she was scared to get the injection in the 70s after seeing how it made some people sick, including her own father, and how she even joked "its chemical warfare!" Eventually I found out about how it was an "epidemic" in 1918 also. This all plays into a scenario, at least to me, that theres plenty of opportunity to test biological agents on a mass scale without test subjects knowing about it. Every occurrence of an "outbreak" an opportunity to try out the new formula. Scientific application is progressing now faster than ever in history, and its commonplace that bacteria and viruses are engineered in laboratories, especially in ones that are state funded and may specialize in weaponizing disease. At the risk of sounding like a lunatic, I really think its plausible that if they haven't figured it out yet, they're close to building a strain of a virus that can reanimate a dead host so it can continue to feed.
