Very well expressed Lea. I like that you said you don't begrudge people their religion. I believe that most people need something to help them understand why they are here. I have struggled with many of the things you discuss here.--I was raised catholic but was very unhappy with it even as a child. It became impossible when I divorced...I am a questioner--an analyst. I have lived in 5 major U.S. cities in the NE, the SW and the SE. I have been exposed to many kinds of people and I have travelled to Europe several times. I find it possible to believe completely contradictory ideas--no problem. It drives everyone around me crazy. I have experienced some things that I perceive as being "Saved" and became a Baptist. I am not a typical "Baptist", how could I be?
Tolerance of other's ideas is important to me. I am never going to fit in anywhere, so why should I be uncomfortable with someone else who doesn't "fit". Have you ever thought of moving away from the "Bible Belt"? You might actually find a place in this country where people think very similarly to you. Would you like that? I wonder?

Religion teaches love... as long as you're not gay, Muslim, Jew, animal, plant, or anything but a non sinning god bearing human being. Of course you can't follow the ten commandments so if the bible was true we'd all be suffering and heaven would only have god in it. Jesus had long hair. Thats condemned in the bible. I can't stand people trying to force fiction on me. I didn't Try to force"The lord of the rings" on them why would they do it to me. :D

That's really sad that a professor had that much effect of your personal relationship with God. I am a christian I love God and I have not once preached on this site to anyone. I am not religious either, I just simply have a personal relationship with God. My heart goes out to people who despise and hate God while all the while he loves everyone unconditonally. It makes people feel uncomfortable and strikes their conscience when they are living in Sin and someone tells them so. They hate to hear it, everbody does. Noone wants to be told that they can no longer Sin, but you must remember there are consequences for our decisions and actions and if you are comfortable with your life decisions and do not have issue with your own personal judgement day then there would be nothing to discuss. Not all christians are as bad as you are making them look, or they are doing it to themselves. More and more people are drifting from God and they don't even realize how and why it's happened. But today's world would be the most difficult to be a christian in. Todays society it is almost impossible. However I will not let the world discourage my own Faith. You are right about the Holiday issue, but the elitist did this to keep people distracted from God. Lea, I have been trying to keep up with your discussion and type at the same time, while listening.By the way I like your video.

After 2:11 it stops.
I spend 5 years in a home for teenagers owned by the Catholic church.
Over a period of five years we had 5 priests there.
One was a pedophile
One was an alcoholic
One was a Nazi
One was a morphine addict
One was hoping the pope will change the celibacy law soon and he could get married
One of those 5 priest was seeing visiting the brothel fairly regularly.

Thanks for that Lea... and I completely agree...with EVERYTHING (of course). My grandfather... (yeah the one that shares Hitlers birthday cehbeach)... was the big preaching type and he tried pushing Christianity onto the family too, although my family wasn't really having it...and he figured that one out sooner or later and completely chilled on the whole thing and actually became "part of the family" again. He actually bought an RV and started traveling around and ended up in Vegas and tried gambling a little and found something he was really good at, lol..he was trying to teach me the secrets of his success on the craps tables and how he "never" loses... pretty ironic how he went from preacher to gambler huh?!

...but anyways, the way i see it..religion not only divides us within our personal families but also as an entire species....and it's a damn shame =( ... and now with how chaotic the world is getting, many of these religious folk are really embracing it with the whole 2012 Armageddon crap... it's RIDICULOUS...HA, speaking of... if you haven't seen "Religulous" yet, check it out while it's still available... I can relate to everything here. Everything. You ever think of moving to CA? It was a great thing for 19 years. Being in the midwest after all that enlightenment- I srsly am laughing at these people on a daily basis. It's *total comedy. I feel for you in Indiana.

I do believe there's higher powers & think there's reincarnation. My reasons have nothing to do with anything ever told or taught to me. Do not subscribe to any org. brainwashing religion & was thankfully never baptized.

Happy Easter & eat a choco. bunny. BITE ITS HEAD OFF, lol.
