manicure-pedicure from hell

this is a review i just posted for a recent trip to a nail salon here in downtown indianapolis. enjoyz:

this was the worst salon experience i have ever had. i received a mani-pedi from the middle aged Asian woman, i cannot remember her name. she began the pedi by scalding my feet. then, as if to be a smart a$$, the water was barely lukewarm after i complained. she was very impatient, not allowing much soaking time for my hands or feet before she dug into my cuticles.

i also did not move fast enough for her. whenever i had to move she was commanding me around the shop. after the massage part of the pedicure, she put some extremely hot wet towel that had been soaking in a crockpot on my legs and feet. i have NEVER had anyone do this before, in nearly 20 years of getting my nails done. there was some lotion or oil on the towel, i now have a rash on my legs. i have a wedding to go to saturday, so much for the new knee-length dress i bought.

she did not buff or sand the surface of my nails down at all; i recently had acrylics removed, and so the paint job was horrid. a little time buffing and they would have looked alright, but she made it very clear that she did not care about me as a client. and i had told her i was looking for a regular manicurist near where i live. she allowed no time between the base, color, and topcoats, just slopping it all on there at once. then she stuck me under the fan instead of the ultraviolets, in an already cold room. oh, and the massages may as well have been done by a corpse.

when i asked her to fix one of her polish mistakes, she got an attitude and made it worse, leaving a blank spot. when i asked her to fix that, again w the attitude. i had had enough at that point, told her so calmly, and left.

not only do i NOT recommend them, i would sue her in court for the rash if i could. i had to go and get my nails buffed and repainted, at added expense. i also have to wear pantyhose and closed toe shoes to the wedding now, so the time and money i just spent buying new strappy sandals was a waste. had to go out and buy the right fucking color hose. this has been such an ordeal, i may see about her license.

You, apparently, seem to think there is a "white perspective" if you took a moment to crawl out of your cave in Kentucky you'd already know terms like lily white & white privilege are well known, as is the term white perspective. i happen to be a reverse oreo. open your lips & blow google. i don't get offended when i hear these terms because i know they're valid.

white or not, you sure come across lily! you tend to seek out racism even when there may be none." you're not reading my posts clearly & i can't keep repeating the same things over & over. the fact you've been so sheltered from racism has nothing to do with me. srsly, go out & meet people other than whites. talk to them. get outside of your bubble. I'll repeat: it's not all about you & they way you think people are or should be.

I think the entire subject should be dropped by society as a whole. Ignore race entirely when dealing with people and in your personal conversations. And, guess what? Racism will die of neglect. Repeat: ignoring something as sig. as race is absurd. Again, racism affects millions of people on a daily basis. Just because you're not one of them means you have pretty much zero intelligence to bring to the topic. If you had a background about what you're talking about I'd be interested. Then I'd at least consider your own experiences. Really, do you have any? Have you had friends of other races? Lovers? Anything? Have you TALKED to anyone who's not white about racism? Their thoughts?

Racism will die of neglect." that will happen when kids are taught not to be racist, not when people ignore our differences in culture & history.

I'll repeat: Recognizing racism or bringing it up for discussion does not a racist make. If the woman does have a history, it can be stopped. That's called justice.

Work on your common sense & reasoning skills, stranger. I feel like I'm talking to one of my college students about basic logic & the echo in here is getting tiring. It's a luxury you as a white or whatever race you claim to be mixed with (if you LOOK white, you ARE for all intents & purposes white in the world, duh, which is part of why people try to pass. another google term. we are working on your vocabulary today! ) have to not consider race as a factor in any given encounter. If you can't admit that then you really are kind of whacko. No offense. Just not out in the world much could be it.... i need to go put on my sunglasses cuz it's blinding in here, lol.

I agree. And that's the whole point I'm trying to make. Was it intentional? That's why -& i'm saying this now for the 3rd time- I sugg. a background check to see if there's a reported pattern.
